e-Spreader - e for easy!

e Spreader

The latest innovation from SAM Machinery is the SAM e-Spreader with the 'e' for easy!

Any SAM Spreader can be upgraded to an e-Spreader at the time of build. The floor speed is simply controlled from a screen in the tractor cab (the SAM e-Rate controller). This replaces the manual drive. The operator can easily set the rate from inside the cab and achieve accurate spread rates.

The SAM e-Spreader is easy to calibrate, and every e-spreader is load cell ready. Fitting scales is the way to get true accuracy because you are actually weighing your product. This technology means the correct application rate is applied regardless of changes in forward speed or changes in the product's density. With the various new mixes out there, this means more efficiency and less wastage.

It also integrates easily with third-party GPD systems. So, operators can see how many hectares have been done and what has actually been applied. This live data means proof of placement is made easy. It you're already using a third party tracking system, you don't have to fork out again and reinvent the wheel.

"Demand for this is out the gate. It gives our farmers peace of mind that they are doing what they should be doing, and they love it," says SAM Machinery Business Manager Tim Ellingham. All SAM Fertiliser Spreaders (narrow belt) or SAM Combo Spreaders (wide-belt) can be e-Spreaders. From smaller four, five, six tonne SAMs right up to the larger eight and nine tonne models.

The SAM e-Rate controller is mounted in the cab. The reliable European hardware is from Germany and has been coupled with innovative Kiwi software. Setting the spread rate is simple - just key in the spread rate, product density, and spread width.

Extra functions such as bulk unloading and border control for borders and waterways are included as standard. Border control reduces spinner speed on the right hand disk, which decreases spread width.

An electric back door is a new optional extra and replaces the manual winding of the back door jack. Also handy for closing the back door when you're driving down the race, so you are not losing any product out the back. There's a simple manual override function built in.

This innovation was born from R &D bringing their new SAM Orchard Spreader to market. That product has been such a hit that the tech was adapted to meet the needs of the Dairy market.

Design Engineer Toby Stone says, " The reliability and ease of operation that all SAMs are known for combined with very smart new technology means SAM have another New Zealand-made product we are very proud of."

Whether you're an owner-operator or a contractor, the SAM Spreader range has a machine to suit with three tiers: the simple manual drives, the new e-Spreader for added accuracy, and the high-end Topcon Spreaders. The Topcon system has a few key advantages over the e-Spreader. It's ISOBUS compatible so can plug directly into the tractor (if compatible). Proof of placement is integrated into the system without relying on third-party reporting. It also has some nifty extra features such as dynamic rate control, mapping, light bar, and sectional control. This system is for the farmer or contractor needing the ultimate in accuracy and control.
