What speed should my spinner discs be turning at?
Your spinner discs should be turning at 850RPM (at approximately 50 litres per minute). This is very important as too much oil can cause overheating of the oil and extra pressure on the tractor hydraulics as well as a very poor spread pattern. Too little oil will also result in a very uneven spread.
Your spinner speed can be easily measured with a tachometer. These are available from our parts department if you need one. Or any local mechanic.
Simply place the reflective sticker on the spider-coupling above the spinner tube (on the collar under the motor) and take the reading from there.
When standing at the back of the machine, the right-hand spinner disc should turn clockwise and the left-hand spinner disc anti-clockwise.
To adjust your oil flow to the correct volume, use the external remotes on the tractor (not the flow valve on the spreader).
With the tractor set at working revs (1700 revs approx) adjust the flow on the tractor remotes until your spinner speeds are 850 RPM.
Please note, if you have OMP32cc motors instead of OMP50cc then your spinner discs should be turning at 850RPM (but at approximately 35 litres per minute).
